KC man wants to see Lego idea become reality

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Nathan Roberts is a full-time college student, father and a possible professional Lego designer.

Roberts, who lives in Kansas City, has submitted plans to Lego for a classic school bus set.

The company, which has had elaborate designs for spaceships, airplanes and movie scenes, has never had a design for a school bus.

The idea came from Roberts’ 4-year-old son, who constantly noticed school buses as they drove around town.

"I was going to get a school bus lego set for him and I realized there aren't any and I thought it would be the perfect set to create for Lego ideas," said Roberts.

Roberts submitted his plan to Lego, but it needs 10,000 votes to advance to a design review by the company.

If the self-described Lego enthusiast gets his way, the company could approve the design and make it an official set.
