During the summer months it's easy for kids to get behind in education.

Studies show that kids can lose two months worth of knowledge during the summer.

"Summer break creates the opportunity to help keep our kids learning while also having fun," said Jennifer Schellhase, who is the owner of College Nannies + Tutors in Overland Park.

One activity Schellhase suggests is gardening, because it helps kids learn math and responsibility.

Another activity she suggests is to take advantage of free events around Kansas City that can be used as an educational tool, like libraries.
