KANSAS CITY, Mo — UPDATE 1/18/2017 8:10 PM: Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback is officially re-nominated for a spot in the Trump administration.
The Senate Committee on Foreign Relations has re-approved Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback's nomination for Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom.
This is the second time this committee heard the Republican's nomination. Back in October, they approved it by an 11 to 10 vote. That vote advanced the nomination to the full Senate.
But the nomination did not make it to the Senate floor before the end of the year. Senate rules require an appointee who hasn't received a confirmation vote by the end of the year to be nominated again.
Earlier this month, President Donald Trump, once again, nominated Governor Brownback.
