KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Last week in Denver, the quarterback room was wiped out due to COVID-19, which left someone unexpected under center for the Broncos on Sunday.

Wednesday, Andy Reid said if a similar situation happened with the Chiefs quarterbacks, the team would still be ready to go.

“We’ve got guys that we work in as the third quarterback on game day,"Reid said. "I’m not going to put that out there, but we have a couple of guys that we work every week."

Reid also praised his quarterback group, saying they have been "flawless" when it comes to wearing masks and following COVID-19 protocols.

Patrick Mahomes said the quarterbacks have utilized a new room at the facility that allows them to spread out and remain socially distanced. He also said that only a certain number of people are allowed in the room at one time.

"Whenever Coach Reid or Coach [Eric] Bieniemy comes in there for some of our meetings, we'll send people out and they'll virtually meet with us," Mahomes said. "Even with that, we still wear our masks and do that type of stuff."

As of Wednesday, Broncos starting quarterback Drew Lock, backup Brett Rypien and practice-squad quarterback Blake Bortles are eligible to return Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium after being forced to sit out Sunday's loss to New Orleans.
