Local stores are seeing Royals merchandise fly off the shelves.

Kansas Sampler near 95th and Quivera Road in Johnson County saw the interest build a couple of weeks ago, but Royals gear really became popular in the last few days.

“I've had butterflies in my stomach all day today,” Amy Jungk said. “I cannot believe it. I was in college the last time they went to the World Series.”

Jungk was buying clothing for a watch party at the American Royal Thursday evening. She was also shopping for bowls and plates with Royals prints on them.

“This morning I was in the store and right away, at 9 o'clock, doors opened and there were Royals fans outside,” Christy Bieker, with Rally House, said. “They couldn't wait to get in and get their new apparel, new gear and anything with a Royals logo, they were looking for.”

The manager at the Rally House on Country Club Plaza told 41 Action News that on Wednesday morning he made the largest transaction ever for Royals gear.

Bieker said merchandise that shows the Royals are in the postseason is especially popular, and they’re struggling to keep everything in stock.
