Royals super fan celebrates 1,000 consecutive home games at Kauffman Stadium

Posted

There are some Royals fans who wait a lifetime to see their favorite team live and in living color. For Chris Coats of Raytown, that dream is almost a daily occurrence. Coats has had season tickets at Kauffman Stadium since 2003.

During the Royals recent home stand with the Tigers, Coats reached a major milestone that could land him in the super fan hall of fame.  When the Royals beat Detroit 10-3 on Friday night, Coats was there celebrating his 1,000th consecutive game, a feat that started during the 2004 season.

It's been a remarkable streak, especially considering Coats was hospitalized with a brain tumor in 2014. He says he was partially motivated by how he had seen the Royals players recover from injuries, thus he managed to make it out to see the team play.
