TEMPE, Ariz. – Big League scouts are all looking for "The Next Big Thing," that can't-miss prospect that will change the future of not only their organization, but maybe even the game itself.

For the second straight year Major League Baseball along with USA Baseball is hosting the Dream Series, a unique event which focuses on diversity within the game as it relates to pitchers and catchers.

Sixty of the best high school pitchers and catchers are on hand, learning from former big leaguers, scouts and coaches. Among the group are Pat Mahomes, whose son Patrick was the Chiefs’ number one draft pick in last year's NFL draft, and former Royals' pitcher Tom "Flash" Gordon.

"I learned so much from some great pitching coaches, that was a real plus and positive for me." Gordon said. "I try to put that out there for some of these youngsters to take on for themselves."

Kansas City is well-represented by Blue Springs South catcher Allante Hall, who is making his second trip to the event.

Hall signed with Arkansas in November, but he will likely be a high draft selection in the June amateur draft.

"I love him... he's a great young, talented catcher," Pitching Instructor Marvin Freeman said.

He's had the chance to work with Hall over the past two years.

The attention to detail is something that hasn't gone unnoticed by Hall’s dad, Brian Hall.

"It is very challenging for the kids and the instructions from the coaches are very educational," Brian Hall said. "Allante has worked with some awesome ex-MLB players. It has been a great experience for us both."
