KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill was unstoppable Sunday during the first quarter against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Bucs tried to play with a single safety deep, leaving Hill one-on-one outside with cornerback Carlton Davis.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes burned Davis and Tampa Bay for 203 yards and two long touchdowns to Hill before the defense adjusted. Hill finished with 269 yards and three touchdowns on the day.

He currently leads the NFL with 13 receiving touchdowns, while also leading the AFC and ranking second in the NFL with 1,021 receiving yards.

"I think it's just the amount of hard work and the amount of practice he's put in every single year," Mahomes said. "He gets better every single year. He's able to do more and more throughout the offense at different spots and it's paying off."

Fellow Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins, who returned at Tampa after missing five games with a hamstring injury, said Hill's improvement has been more than on the field.

"Just being uplifting, being the guy that he's always been, I think that's the most important thing," Watkins said. "When you've got a guy catching 10 touchdowns and 1,000 yards how he is off the field, and I think he's been amazing this year."

Hill's 13 receiving touchdowns and 14 touchdowns overall, including a rushing score, already are career-highs.

He's also recorded his third 1,000-yard season in five professional seasons and is on pace for career-highs in receptions and receiving yards.
