KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs will look to earn their second win this year in Hard Rock Stadium, though the wins would likely feel much different.

“Listen, we know they’re a good football team, not only by record but by the way they coach them and the way they play," Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid said of the Miami Dolphins.

The Chiefs will face rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who some Chiefs players know well.

“Tua is a great QB man," wide receiver Mecole Hardman said. "He did his thing at Alabama. He’s doing his thing at the Dolphins as well. I think he’ll have a great career."

Hardman faced Tagovailoa as a freshman in the 2018 National Championship game.

University of Alabama defeated the University of Georgia 26-23 in overtime.

Hardman said he remembers the game well.

“Here comes Tua, the backup QB and starts having a good game. Me honestly, and I’m talking collegewise, I don’t think he did nothing special, you know, I think we just messed up a lot," Hardman said. "I mean, he just came in and made the right throw. I mean, freaking what, third and 23, second and 23 or something like that, and blew a coverage on the back end. The game should have been over man."

As the Chiefs prepare for the Dolphins, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the team knows what they're up against.

“I mean, he’s super talented, he understands what it takes to win football games," Mahomes said, "and I think that comes from playing at Alabama and winning the National Championship there."
