KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas sophomore center Udoka Azubuike's mother is set to see him suit up for the Jayhawks for the first time ever in Saturday's Final Four game.

Azubuike is from Delta, Nigeria and his mother, Florence Azuonuwu, still lives there and has never seen her son play basketball.

But now, she has secured a Visa in a very short amount of time and is planning to travel to San Antonio to watch her son play.

According to a press release from the University of Kansas, U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts, and Sen. Jerry Moran, U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder helped with the process.

“For Doke to be able to share his experience at the Final Four with his mom is something neither of them will ever forget,” said KU Athletics Director Sheahon Zenger. “You can see it in Doke’s face whenever we discuss it.”

The Jayhawks take on the Villanova Wildcats at 7:49 p.m. Saturday in San Antonio.
