KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Among the accolades and congratulations that poured in on social media for Patrick Mahomes after the Super Bowl MVP’s performance Sunday night, one of them may have been a little tongue-in-cheek.
The Detroit Tigers, which drafted Mahomes in the 37th round in 2014, congratulated him “on winning MVP of his football game.”

Mahomes, who on Sunday became the first player in NFL history to win MVP and a Super Bowl before the age of 25, also played baseball in high school but ultimately committed to Texas Tech University to play football.
The Tigers also shared their "scouting report" on Mahomes, which included the notes "loves ketchup" and "will pump fake throw to 1st basemen, but then runs it to the base himself."

In a reply to one of the Tigers' tweets, one person asked if Mahomes was coming to spring training.
“He said something about going somewhere in Central Florida,” the Tigers responded, referencing Mahomes’ trip to Disney World on Monday.
The Kansas City Royals replied to the Tigers' congratulatory tweet.
“Good guy. Plays hard. Loves the game,” the Royals said.
