FRISCO, Texas — Ryan Hollingshead scored in the 43rd minute, and FC Dallas snapped a four-match winless streak by topping Sporting Kansas City 1-0 on Wednesday night at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

FC Dallas returned after Sunday's game against the Minnesota United was postponed because of a couple of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Sporting believed it had evened the match in the 87th minute when Johnny Russell knocked the ball into the net, but a foul was called on SKC's Gade Kinda.

Video replay upheld the call despite appearances that FC Dallas goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer was the one who initiated the contact.

"It's utterly ridiculous that that's not a goal," Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes said. "It should be a penalty on the goalkeeper tackling Gade Kinda and it would be a red card."

The loss snaps Sporting KC's three-game win streak.

Bryan Reynolds crossed to Hollingshead, who shot to the near post to beat diving goalkeeper Tim Melia.

Melia finished with six saves.

Sporting KC returns to action against the Chicago Fire at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Soldier Field.
