Chiefs schedule release: team to play five primetime games in 2018

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The NFL released its 2018 schedule on Thursday night and it includes five primetime games for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Among them is a Sunday Night match-up against the defending AFC Champion New England Patriots in Foxborough, Mass. on Oct. 14 on your 41 Action News station. Last year, the Chiefs defeated the Patriots in the NFL opener.

The team previously announced an international primetime game. The Chiefs will take the Los Angeles Rams in Mexico City on Nov. 19.

Other primetime games include a Monday night game at the rival Denver Broncos in Week 4 on October 4.

The final primetime matchups include two straight starting with a Thursday night matchup at Arrowhead against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15 on Dec. 13 followed by a Sunday night game at the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 23.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs open the 2018 season on the road at the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 9. The home opener is set for Sept. 23, Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Chiefs end the season at home against the Oakland Raiders.

Single-game tickets go on sale on Friday. A pre-sale for season ticket holders begins at 8 a.m. Jackson County residents can also buy tickets beginning at 8 a.m. Friday at Arrowhead Stadium. To take advantage of this opportunity, Jackson County residents must have one form of ID and a 2017 personal property tax receipt.

The general public can buy tickets beginning at 10 a.m. Friday at chiefs.com.
