KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Coming off the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl win, defensive end Frank Clark says he and his teammates must have a short memory.

Clark addressed the media Tuesday and said in order to reach the goals the team has set for the upcoming season, the players must get back to work.

“Us being champions last year, nobody cares about that. I know our coach doesn’t care about that, it’s nice, it’s cute and all but we’ve got stuff to do this year, a whole new set of goals. We have to win the AFC Championship and that’s where it starts," Clark said.

In order to push through a non-traditional training came due to COVID-19, and the loss of Damien Williams and Laurent Duvernay Tardif, who have both opted out of the 2020 season, Clark says it's all about the guys pushing each other to be better.

“The main thing is just staying in tune with each other, you know I feel like that’s the biggest thing that happens when guys have success, go win the Super Bowl. You know, you’ve got primadonna, you’ve got guys that want to go and do this and you’ve got different guys coming to work with different mindsets, they’re not focused on the one goal and that’s to win a championship and I feel like that’s where our strength is," Clark said.

The lack of a preseason will impact rookies specifically in their development, according to Clark.

As a leader on the defense, Clark said he's letting the young players know they need to "lock in" at practice in order to be prepared for the season.
