KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Monarchs will hit the baseball diamond for the first time in 56 years beginning on Tuesday, May 18.

The Monarchs will begin a 100-game season on Opening Day against the Lincoln Saltdogs at the Field of Legends in Kansas City, Kansas.

The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.

This begins a six-game home stand for the Monarchs, who will face the Saltdogs and Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks during that span.

“Seeing the Monarchs finally take the field will be a dream come true,” Monarchs owner Mark Brandmeyer said. “I’m excited to see our fans out at the ballpark, and we are committed to creating a world class experience on and off the field."

The club said it will allow fans and will follow local and state COVID-19 safety guidelines in deciding how many fans to allow in the stadium.

At this time, it's not clear how many fans will be allowed. The club said it will also release more details on a full schedule and game times at a later date.

Fans will get the chance to spend the Fourth of July at the Field of Legends stadium when the club will once again play the Saltdogs.

The season will wrap-up Labor Day weekend in a four-game series against the Cleburne Railroaders.
