KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The coronavirus pandemic has forced a rework of college basketball schedules, but there will still be plenty of marquee match-ups.

The University of Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball team announced Friday it will tip-off its season with one of those marquee matchups in taking on the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Thanksgiving from Fort Myers, Florida, as part of the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off.

As part of the tip-off, the Jayhawks will also play Saint Joseph’s on Nov. 17. Both games will be played at Suncoast Credit Union Arena.

The team said there will be no public sale of tickets and only a limited number of fans would be able to attend. Fans interested can visit the tip-off website.

The Jayhawks and Bulldogs have played each other only one other time; in 1998, when the Jayhawks defeated the Bulldogs 80-66.

KU is still on track to take on the Kentucky Wildcats on Dec. 1 as part of the State Farm Champions Classic. The location of that game is still being determined.
