Mahomes awarded coveted 99 overall rating on Madden

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Patrick Mahomes has received the ultimate compliment from the video game Madden: induction into its elite 99 club.

That's right, Mahomes will start the season with a 99 rating, the highest possible rating in the game.

As part of this accomplishment, Madden awarded Mahomes with a 99 Club trophy and a diamond "99" pendant.

Mahomes was surprised with the award by teammate Travis Kelce while the two were in Lake Tahoe over the weekend playing in the American Century Championship.

Only four NFL players will enter the season with a 99 rating: Mahomes, Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald and New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore.
