KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Associated announced Monday that it will delay the start of all fall sports.

Practices will now begin the week of Aug. 31 with competition starting the week of Sept. 28.

There will be further restrictions on student-athlete and coach activities announced.

“This plan allows our student-athletes to get back on campus and get acclimated with the student body before we begin practices and competition,” MIAA Commissioner Mike Racy said in a press release.

The statement cited the health of campuses and communities during the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason for the delay.
