KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two animal rescue shelters put tasty treats on the line in a Super Bowl LV bet.

Wayside Waifs in Kansas City, Missouri, and SPCA Tampa Bay Animal Shelters executives made a wager Tuesday in which the losing team’s hometown shelter must send treats for animals in need to the winning city.

In addition, Wayside Waifs President Geoff Hall and SPCA Tampa Bay CEO Martha Boden agreed that the loser also would have his or her face “smeared with peanut butter… and a shelter dog will have a super treat,” according to a news release.

The bet was announced in a Zoom call, in which Hall and Boden also traded jabs about the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterbacks.
