KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The University of Kansas on Monday announced plans to keep fans away from sporting contests through at least the first week of December.
KU previously ceased hosting fans for the rest of November due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the area.
In a letter to faculty, staff and students Monday, Chancellor Douglas Girod said university officials, in conjunction with the school’s pandemic advisory team, decided to keep games closed to fans through Dec. 5.
That time period includes the men’s basketball team’s first two home games.
Girod noted in his letter that whether fans are allowed at games after Dec. 5 will be determined on a week-by-week basis “so we can be responsive to the most current circumstances and medical guidance.”
