OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The Kansas City metro is the place to be for soccer fans this week.

Thousands of young soccer players from across the United States will be in Overland Park, Kansas, this week for one of the country’s most prestigious youth soccer tournaments.

The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series kicks off Tuesday at the Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex.

Just down the road, at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas, two professional powerhouses from Europe will face off in a match as part of the International Champions Cup.

Bayern Munich of Germany and AC Milan of Italy play at 8 p.m. Tickets are still available.

The youth tournament brings approximately 3,000 players, coaches and referees to Overland Park for a week-long tournament putting 104 teams in varying age ranges up against one another to crown 14 champions. Both boys and girls compete.

The matches are streamed online. You can watch the action here.

The tournament is well known for attracting college coaches who attend with the purpose of scouting and offering scholarships to players.
