Cynthia Newsome gets 'Back in the Swing' to help other cancer survivors

NBC Action News anchor Cynthia Newsome is getting 'Back in the Swing' this weekend, helping a Kansas City-based nonprofit organization that supports breast cancer survivors through personalized medical care, research and education.

This weekend, the organization is celebrating a cookbook kick-off party featuring ready-to-eat recipes from the upcoming Back in the Swing Everyday Lifestyle Cookbook by Barbara C. Unell and Judith Fertig. Cynthia will be at the party and encourages you to join her!

Fertig will also be at the party signing copies of the cookbook. The party is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dean and Deluca at 119th Street and Roe Avenue in Overland Park, Kan.

Watch the video above to learn more about the Back in the Swing party and to hear an update on how Cynthia's fight against breast cancer is going. You can also hear from Dr. Jennifer Klemp with the KU Breast Cancer Survivorship Center, who talks about October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
