In an interview published Monday, singer Tony Bennett revealed that he's been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

In an extensive interview with AARP the Magazine, Bennett publicly revealed that he's been battling the disease since 2016.

While the 94-year-old has so far been spared of some of the more frightening symptoms of the disease, he told AARP that the disease has progressed and he has suffered from some short-term memory loss.

Despite his diagnosis, Bennett has continued to record — something that Bennett's doctors say has kept him healthy. AARP reports that Bennett's team of neurologists say that his twice-a-week 90-minute singing sessions "are stimulating his brain in positive ways."

AARP also describes his relationship with Lady Gaga, with whom he released a duet album in 2015. The two have continued recording despite Bennett's diagnosis and will release a new duet album in the spring.

“Life is a gift – even with Alzheimer’s," Bennett tweeted Monday along with the link to the AARP story.
