For the men and woman who protect Kansas City, duty calls even on Christmas day.

The nonprofit organization ‘Taking back the Streets,’ made sure first responders had a warm meal while they worked.

"Instead of just eating left overs from my holiday meal today which were still good don't get me wrong, but it's something special it's something different that I can look forward to for my dinner tonight," said Josh Losh, who worked from 3-11 p.m. in the records division for Kansas City Police Department  on Christmas.

There were 200 first responders feed Christmas meals.

Each year ‘Taking back the Streets’ picks a group of people to feed.

This year they picked first responders to honor Kansas City’s fallen firefighters, Larry Leggio and John Mesh.

"With the tragedy of our fire department last Oct. 12 where we lost two of our fire fighters we wanted to do something for our first responders to let them know you know our city supports them," said founder Scott Lamaster.
