There is nothing like being around a group of children exercising and having fun.

I had the great joy of working out with the students at the Boys and Girls Club of Wyandotte County on Troupe Street in Kansas City, Kansas.

Their competitive spirit was contagious, and they are learning about much more than exercise and nutrition.

Under the watchful guidance of their coach, Waymond King, the kids are learning about life.

"I was a member of the Boys and Girls Club when I was growing up," explained King. "I'm hoping that somehow, with some of the things we do, we're reaching them and touching them and inspiring them to do and be more."

As we competed in a relay, the kids told me that Coach King teaches them to do their best and to put their education first in life.

The Boys and Girls Club has a healthy initiative, teaching kids to exercise and eat healthy. It's one way the organization is trying to fight childhood obesity.

I had a great time running in the relay and watching the kids jump rope, crawl backwards and hula hoop! Also, congratulations on winning trophies in the National Fitness Competition earlier this month.

Thanks for inviting me!

If you have a program or workout to fight childhood obesity, please contact me and invite me to your workout.
