SAFEHOME prepares for Saturday night benefit

You’ve heard of Cirque du Soleil. How about Cirque du SAFEHOME?

On June 11, 2016, a magical Saturday night will come together at the Overland Park Sheraton combining great food, amazing auction items, high-flying entertainment, baseball and important stories.

All to raise money and awareness in the battle against domestic violence in Johnson County.

The food and auction are pretty self-explanatory. As for the entertainment, Quixotic will be adding their flair.

Baseball? Well, that’s thanks to Jamie and Alex Gordon. Jamie worked at SAFEHOME before she became a baseball wife and her commitment continues.

As for the important stories, according to SAFEHOME president and CEO, Janee Hanzlick, there are over 30 years worth to share.

Domestic violence and abuse reaches across all lines, including economic status, and through all zip codes.

At the SAFEHOME facility, they can house and serve 60 victims. Most nights, like last night, they are filled to capacity with the majority being children.

The goal is to break the cycle of violence by providing safe shelter, counseling and prevention education.

Cirque du SAFEHOME, with a wonderful assist by the Gordon family and the Kansas City Royals, is a major contributor to that ongoing effort.
