Ford workers at the Claycomo plant have a lot to be proud of.
Ford’s 2016 F-150 SuperCab is the only large pickup truck to earn a top safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The safety organization issued the new round of testing to see how occupants would be protected in a small overlap front crash.
According to the IIHS, the crash test replicates what happens when a vehicle runs off the road and hits a tree or pole, or clips another vehicle that crossed the center line.
The best performer overall was the Ford F-150 SuperCab, clinching “good” ratings across the board.

According to the IIHS, the SuperCab now joins the SuperCrew model in earning a 2016 Top Safety Pick award when equipped with Ford’s optional basic-rated forward collision warning system.
The IIHS says for a vehicle to qualify for a 2016 Top Safety Pick, it must earn good ratings in the five crashworthiness tests, and an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention.
