KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The new Kansas City, Kansas, Amazon fulfillment center opened Tuesday.

The center will bring 2,000 new jobs to the area.

At noon, Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer and other elected officials toured the new facility.

"Amazon is here. It's not just a few jobs. It's thousands of jobs," said Colyer.

Despite not being a finalist to become the second Amazon Headquarters, the company still has a big footprint in the area.

The KCK location is the third fulfillment center in Kansas.

The facility stretches longer than 10 football fields, and Amazon said it features a lot of new technology that will make processing items easier for workers.

This location will handle small items like books, toys and electronics.
