The Cass County Sheriff's Office continues to ask the public for help in solving a seemingly random shooting on Interstate 49 this week.

A 32-year-old man and a 2-year-old child were injured in the shooting, which happened Sept. 7 on I-49 near the Cass Parkway Exit.

The victims were last known to be in stable condition.

Sheriff's deputies say the car targeted in the shooting was hit at least 13 times by the suspect

An initial investigation led to broken glass and several shell casings on I-49.

Law enforcement believes the suspect was driving a black, early-to-mid 2000, four-door Ford Focus during the shooting, which has been called "random" and "unprovoked."

The Cass County Sheriff's Office is asking for anyone who may have been driving on I-49 between midnight and 1 a.m. Sept. 7 to call their office at 816-380-5200.
