Update: The Missouri State High School Activities Association has canceled the remainder of the Show-Me Showdown.

On Monday morning, MSHSAA made the decision to cancel the semifinals and finals of the Class 4 and Class 5 state basketball tournament after consulting with local and state officials and member schools about COVID-19.

Previously, Jason West, MSHSAA communications director, told 41 Action News that they were “continuing to work toward playing basketball on Friday and Saturday.”

Schools from the Kansas City area playing in the final four included:

  • Lincoln College Preparatory Academy (Class 4 Girls)
  • Raytown South High School (Class 4 Boys)
  • Blue Springs High School (Class 5 Girls)
  • Staley High School (Class 5 Boys)

Class 1, 2 and 3 basketball championship games concluded this past weekend with limited spectators.

On Sunday, the CDC recommended in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States should be canceled or postponed for the next eight weeks.
