16-year-old dead, 1 injured after shooting Tuesday on 60th Street in KCMO

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 16-year-old died and another person was injured after the two apparently shot each other on Tuesday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri.

KCPD officers responded around 4:40 p.m. to the 11800 block of East 60th Street.

They found one male, identified as 16-year-old Jaris Wilson, in the backyard of a residence. He was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

A second shooting victim was found in the 5800 block of Woodson Road, about two blocks from the residence on 60th Street. He was transported to an area hospital in serious condition, police said.

Police said it appeared that the two males shot each other in the 11800 block of East 60th Street.

One suspect was in custody, and charges are pending, police said Wednesday.
