1 man shot to death Thursday outside KCMO gas station

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man died Thursday in a shooting outside an east Kansas City, Missouri, gas station.

KCPD officers found the victim just after 8 p.m. at East 46th Street and Prospect Avenue, just north of Brush Creek and east of U.S. 71.

The shooting victim died a short time later at a hospital, becoming the 130th homicide victim in KCMO in 2020.

Investigators found dozens of shell casings at the crime scene.

No information has released on a suspect or what led to the shooting.

There were 101 homicides in KCMO last year through the morning of Aug. 27, 2019. The record for most homicides in a year is 153 in 1993.
