KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 12-year-old was shot Thursday evening in Kansas City, Kansas.
The child and an adult relative were riding four-wheelers shortly after 8 p.m. near 63rd Street and Nogard Avenue when someone fired shots at them.
According to a post from KCK Police Chief Terry Zeigler on Twitter, the child suffered serious injuries in the incident near North 59th Street and Webster Avenue.

Zeigler said the boy was taken to Children's Mercy Hospital.
A KCK police spokesman at the scene said the child was struck in thr stomach by a bullet and the adult was grazed by another bullet.
The adult took the child to the 5900 block of Webster Avenue, where help was summoned.
The child is stable condition at the hospital and said to be improving.
"Please pray for the child and family!" he wrote in the Twitter post.
There is no indication from police about what led to the shooting.
