18-year-old convicted in murder of KCMO man

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An 18-year-old Kansas City, Missouri man has been found guilty in a man's fatal shooting.

Tony Mack, 18, was convicted of second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree assault and three counts of armed criminal action.

Prosecutors said Mack shot and killed Leon Taylor, 56, on Jan. 28, 2018, near 16th Street and Elmwood Avenue.

According to court documents, Mack asked his mother about a scab under her nose and if Taylor was abusing her. His mother said that she fell. Mack then went outside, where Taylor and two others were sitting in a car.

Witnesses told police that Mack spoke to the three people inside the car before pulling out a handgun and firing into the vehicle. Taylor was shot multiple times and died at an area hospital. Another person in the vehicle was injured. 

Mack's sentencing is set for Dec. 14.
