Arrest made in Dec. 15 shooting of KCK police officer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A suspect is in custody in relation to the Tuesday shooting of a Kansas City, Kansas, police officer.

According to KCKPD, a 33-year-old man from Kansas City, Kansas, was arrested just before 2 p.m. on Sunday.

That suspect was found in rural Miami County.

The Miami County Sheriff's Office and FBI assisted in the arrest.

Police have not said if the man has been charged at this time.

The shooting of the officer took place shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday near South 39th Street and County Line Road near the Argentine neighborhood.

The officer was pursuing a suspect in a hit-and-run investigation and was shot in the arm by that suspect.

A vehicle driven by the suspect was recovered that same day, but the suspect remained at large.
