UPDATE 8:40 A.M.: According to police, the suspect is in custody and the standoff is over.
Authorities were called to the Super Budget Inn off U.S. 40 Highway around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday after reports of an overdose.

Officials say a man pointed a firearm at EMS and officers when they approached the suspect. Police tried to negotiate the man out of his hotel room.
Residents in the rooms next to the standoff were evacuated.
Traffic was blocked in both directions of U.S. 40 Highway and Phelps.
