KANSAS CITY, Mo. — No one was injured when a car crashed into a home near 67th and Monroe following a police chase Friday morning in Kansas City, Missouri.
Police said officers stopped a car for speeding. When the officer walked back to the car to give the driver his ticket, he smelled marijuana and asked the driver to step outside.
That's when the driver took off and tried to make a right turn onto 67th, crashing into the house instead, according to police.
The man, who police said was armed, ran from the scene.
Police went after him and took him into custody near 68th and Monroe after a short foot chase.
A woman was inside the home sleeping at the time of the crash. She was not hurt.
Police said the driver's mom came by the scene and told them the car was a rental.
