KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A shooting late Thursday left one man dead and a woman hurt at a house in Kansas City, Missouri.

The shooting happened just before 10:45 p.m. in the 5200 block of Norledge Avenue.

The woman, later identified as 44-year-old Raidel Chavez, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe the suspected shooter was a man who had been staying with them.

No information on a motive for the gunfire. The suspect is not in custody.

This marked Kansas City, Missouri's 151st homicide for 2020, passing the total homicide number for all of 2019.

It was the third shooting incident in less than nine hours in Kansas City, Missouri.

A man suffered critical wounds in a shooting around 3 p.m. outside a house near East 93rd Street and Wallace Avenue.

The city's latest homicide victim was found shot to death at about 8 p.m. Thursday at the Stonegate Meadows Apartments near Interstate 70 and Pittman Road.
