Emporia police: 'No active threat' after active shooter reported near ESU campus

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Emporia Police Department said no active threat has been identified after an active shooter alarm was pulled Thursday afternoon.

Police responded to an active shooter alarm at Newman Regional Health at around 4:40 p.m. Thursday.

Officers thoroughly searched the premises, and police said it appears to be an alarm only.

"Please continue to use caution in the area while we remain on scene," the department wrote in a Facebook post.
