KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person died and two people, including a teenager, were injured in a crash on northbound Interstate 435 near Parvin Road in the Northland, police said.
Around 8:10 p.m. Friday, the driver of a 2018 Jeep Wrangler traveled off the right side of northbound I-435 and struck a guard rail. The Jeep then drove off the left side of the roadway, collided with a concrete barrier and overturned, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
A 2014 Dodge Journey, also driving north on I-435, struck the Jeep.
The driver of the Jeep, identified as 53-year-old Julie Groce of Kansas City, Missouri, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The two occupants of the Dodge were transported to area hospitals. The 40-year-old male driver suffered moderate injuries, while a 15-year-old male passenger was seriously injured.
Police closed the northbound lanes of the highway while crews worked to clear the scene and investigate the collision.
