GARDNER, Kan. — A former Gardner, Kan. teacher is facing two counts of aggravated sodomy – both felonies – after charges were announced Tuesday afternoon.

Johnson County Prosecutors charged Todd Burd, 45, in connections to the crimes, which are alleged to have occurred between Oct. 23 and Nov. 8, 2016 in Gardner.

Burd was previously employed as a choir director at Gardner High School. He is currently listed as unemployed.

Court documents indicate the victim in the case, identified by his or her initials, was 15 or 16 at the time of the alleged crimes.

Burd was arrested Tuesday afternoon and booked 30 minutes later into the Johnson County Jail, where he remains on a $250,000 bond. He is tentatively scheduled to make his first appearance in court on Wednesday afternoon.
