KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Independence police are investigating a homicide that took place Sunday afternoon.
Officers were dispatched at 5:37 p.m. to the 2900 block of South Hawthorne Avenue for a reported disturbance.
Police found a stabbing victim, later identified as 37-year-old Jose G. Gotay of Independence, at the scene.
Gotay was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
