KANSAS CITY, Mo. — While the search for two girls and their father who allegedly abducted them came to safe ending Saturday night, the investigation is just beginning.

Leavenworth County, Kansas, Sheriff’s deputies will likely continue to process the home belonging to Donny Jackson in the 14900 block of Hillside Road for days.

It was at that home early Saturday afternoon where deputies responded just after 1 p.m. to find two boys -- confirmed to be Jackson's sons -- dead.

“I believe there was a family event, a soccer game, that one of the children was supposed to be at and didn't show up,” Leavenworth County Undersheriff James Shirley told reporters Saturday evening. “A family member had shown up then and had discovered the crime here at the scene.”

Shirley later told 41 Action News that Jackson is in custody after the Oklahoma Sheriff's office and Oklahoma state troopers located him and the two girls in Beckham County, Okla.

Law enforcement still is working with local prosecutors as they investigate the boys' deaths.

Several law enforcement vehicles could be seen outside the home early Saturday night. The home is located east of Lansing and south of Leavenworth proper.
