Kansas City man charged in deadly August shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri, man has been charged in connection with a shooting that left another man dead, the Jackson County Prosecutor's office announced Thursday.

According to court documents, Thorne McKendrick, 19, allegedly shot and killed Michael W. Brown on Aug. 1 near East 12th Street & Lawndale Avenue in Kansas City.

Kansas City Police used security video during their investigation and say McKendrick had a small scuffle with Brown before eventually shooting him.

McKendrick was charged with 2nd degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.

McKendrick's bond was set at $200,000.
