Kansas City Man charged with Independence murder

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Officials have made an arrest in the shooting death of Juan Hernandez, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

Edwin A. Sagastume-Sosa, 23, of Kansas City has been charged with murder second degree and armed criminal action.

On June 1, Independence Police responded to CVS on 23rd Street where they found Hernandez in the store’s entry with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified Sagastume-Sosa as a suspect. He told police he shot Hernandez, buried the gun and shaved his head to change his appearance.

Prosecutors requested a $300,000 bond.
