Kansas City, Missouri, police identify man killed overnight near 25th, Hardesty

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police are investigating an overnight homicide.

Police were called to the 2500 block of Hardesty around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

When they arrived, they found a man lying on the sidewalk who had been shot.

KCFD EMS arrived at the same time as KCPD and declared the victim dead.

Police later identified the victim as Jerome A. Hawkins, 27.

No one is in custody.

Detectives are working to determine what led to the shots being fired and the victim being struck.
