UPDATE: Man charged in fatal January shooting

UPDATE: A Kansas City man has been charged in the fatal shooting of Hollis Burgin III. 

Timothy Stanfield, 19, faces second-degree murder and armed criminal action charges. 

According to court records, police found Burgin in a Lincoln suffering from a gunshot wound.

Court records state a witness told police Burgin went to the 3300 block of Bridge Manor Drive to meet someone. A witness said Burgin called the phone number of the person he expected to meet. A witness told police Stanfield got into the backseat of the vehicle and they drove to a convenience store to get money. The witness said after they drove back to Bridge Manor Drive, Stanfield shot Burgin and fled.

The news release from the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office said police checked the victim's cell phones and connected the phone number to an email address that belongs to Stanfield. Court records state surveillance video of the ATM showed a person in similar clothing to what the defendant was wearing when he was taken into custody. 

Prosecutors have requested a bond of $200,000.

Kansas City police are investigating a shooting death. 

Police were called out to the scene around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. After arriving, they found a body of a man in the driver's seat of a vehicle. 

Police tell 41 Action News the victim was a black man in his 30s. The suspect was described by police as a light-skinned, black male who was wearing dark clothing.
