KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Thomas Midgette Jr. will spend the rest of his life in prison for killing a man after an argument.

Midgette, 56, of Kansas City, Missouri, listened to a judge sentence him Thursday for the Jan. 21, 2017, murder of Raymond C. Jones.

Kansas City police found Jones shot to death near East 82nd Street and Troost Avenue.

According to court documents, Midgette could be seen on surveillance video shooting Jones after the two got into an argument and Jones punched Midgette in the nose.

Midgette, who pleaded guilty to the murder in November 2018, followed Jones and shot him several times.

The Jackson County judge sentenced Midgette to life in prison for second-degree murder. He also received a 30-year sentence for armed criminal action and a seven-year sentence for unlawful use of a weapon.
