The Kansas City No Violence Alliance (KC NoVA)  is on a mission to reduce the escalating murder rate in Kansas City in 2016.

After a declining murder rate in 2014, the murder rate in Kansas City increased this year.

This year, 106 people have been murdered in Kansas City - an increase of 20 victims from last year.

The No Violence Alliance has a plan to reduce murders:

  • Continue focused deterrence to inform the public that crime will not be tolerated.
  • Continue information sharing between federal, state, county and city law enforcement agencies.
  • Continue seeking community partnerships to help police catch murderers.

The group Mothers-In-Charge is on the NoVA team, asking the public for help to identify murderers and persuade the public to stop the killing.

Drug abuse and poverty are also factors in the rise in murders. NoVA can assist residents with social services to help meet their needs which could lead to a reduction in the murder rate.
