KCK police ask for help identifying man found burned in barrel

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Kansas, police are asking for the public's assistance identifying a man whose body was found burned in a barrel last week.

A passerby noticed a human limb sticking out of the barrel around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Officers determined the victim had been put in a barrel and set on fire near North 18th Street and Kansas 5.

Police on Tuesday said they need help identifying him.

He was described as a Hispanic man in his late teen to early 20s with black hair. Police said he was 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighed between 120 and 130 pounds.

On the inside of his right arm, police said there are several words, including "Dios" in all capital letters.

The victim had a heart-shaped design with "15 8 1973" or "15 8 1977" above it on the left side of his chest.

Police said the man's death remains under investigation by the KCKPD Major Case Unit.
